>Officially Official!

20 Dec

>You could sing that to the tune of that Lucky Charms jingle–“Magically Delicious!” Anyway, we got a call this morning and it looks like we’ll be moving to Louisiana within the next month. I kind of feel like I should be scared, but I’m really not. I feel very peaceful about all of this and like this is really where we’re supposed to go. So if anyone’s taking any vacations to the South, you’d better come see us or we’ll beat your bums!

>I’ve Been Debating…

1 Dec

>I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not I should say anything about this because I realize that the internet is not as private as we’d like to think and things aren’t officially official. But I think the time’s right.

We’re having another baby.

Just kidding. Oh, that would be the joke of the century! I mean, babies are blessings and everything, but a baby now would be…well, I’m not even going to say it, lest God smite that IUD straight out of my uterus.

Sam just got back from 3 days of interviewing in Louisiana where he was offered a pretty amazing job. The day he flew out there, he received a call from the job in Salt Lake, telling him that they hadn’t made a decision yet, but he was one of their top contenders. Considering the Louisiana job is paying more than he even asked for in Salt Lake, and taking into account the rather large cost of living difference between Salt Lake and Central Louisiana, and factoring in the benefits with the Louisiana job, we’d be crazy not to take it. He hasn’t officially accepted the offer, and he still has to pass a criminal background check and a drug test, but that’s our unofficial plan!

So thanks, everybody, for all your prayers and thoughts through the last few months. We’re feeling very blessed, nervous, relieved, and excited about our new adventures!

>How Could I Forget??

9 Nov

>Actually, I’m guessing most of you who read this probably already know, but Sam’s phone interview went really, really well the other day and they’re flying him down to Louisiana in the next few weeks. EEEEK!! Yeah, we’re nervous, but we’re also really excited. They’re even going to have a realtor take him around to look at homes in the area!

Our thing is that this is our way to get our foot in the door with an awesome company that offers great pay and fantastic benefits. They even told us that if we’re not crazy about the area, we can transfer wherever after his first “assignment.” And they have opportunities pretty much everywhere.

So yeah, we’re keeping our fingers crossed! Of all the places I imagined us living, the Deep South was never one of them!

>Doctor Rant

6 Nov

>This has been bugging me ever since Meredith’s 4-month visit and I need to get it off my chest.

There are 3 practitioners at our doctor’s office, and now, all three of them have informed us that it would be bad if Meredith grew up to be fat. Yeah, she’s in the 75th percentile for weight now, but I feed her breastmilk, not potato chips. I mean, Clark was in the 99th percentile when he was born and for about the first 6 months of his life, and now he’s around the 40th.

“Oooooh, you’re cute and chubby now, but you don’t want to be chubby forever!”
“It’s okay for boys to be big when they’re older, but it’s hard for little girls to bigger.”
“You don’t want her to stay in the 75th percentile forever.”

Really? I don’t want a fat little kid? I realize that childhood obesity is a big deal, and if she were off the charts, it would be another story, but she’s a breastfed baby. Relax.

On a completely different note, we heard from someone in Louisiana who wants to interview with Sam. That’s right. Louisiana. While I’m not uber-excited with the location, we’re thrilled with the company and the fact that they’re calling means he passed the personality profiling part of the application process, so maybe another branch in a not-so-Louisiana location might call.

>The Waiting Game…

21 Oct

>I think my creativity has been stifled because we’re just waiting…SO anxiously…to hear from people that Sam’s interviewed with. I will be awfully glad when this whole process is over!

6 Oct

>So Team Awesome has finally made it onto the web! Long story about Team Awesome’s origins…suffice it to say, that’s what we call our family.

I don’t really know what to say in my very first blog post ever! I’m irritated because Sam decided to go into work for 4 hours today. He started his internship this week, so, on top of taking 17 credit hours and working 12 hours a week as a TA, we eat dinner at 4:00 each day so he can work from 5:00-9:30 or so every night. We need the money and he needs the internship to graduate, and graduation is only 2.5 months away, but it sucks. And I know it sucks for him, too, but I’m still bugged that he went in today.

On a lighter note, C informed me yesterday that he’s a “cheeky little guy.” That he is. Oh, he also blinks at us and says, “I’m flashing mine eyes at you!” Speaking of the kiddos, here are some pics:

This is M-Monkey in her blessing dress; we had this picture taken a few weeks ago and I’m pretty sure that in this picture, she’s the cutest baby that’s ever existed! I’m not at all biased. She’s such a happy little thing; just when you think she can’t smile any bigger, she kicks it up another notch. We’ve been very blessed with very happy kids.

To the right, we have C in our new backyard. We think he looks a bit like Sasquatch in this picture. And yeah, right now, he’s upstairs eating cold cereal at 11:00 in the morning and watching cartoons because I’m working on a blog. I’m in the running for Mom of the Year!
